Phytophthora root rot is caused by a fungus, what enviormental conditions can contribute to this problem?
Wet soil with no drainage has little or no air in the pore spaces. Such conditions cause anaerobic conditions which prevents healthy root growth and causes the roots to rot. The fungus lives on what little air is left, preventing the roots from getting air.
